offering a choice for managing personal health and well being

Yellow River Center is a non-profit organization formed in 2012 to offer “workshops without walls” and retreat experiences to help participants learn practical ways to manage stress in everyday life. Our teaching is based on scientific studies that blend contemporary brain research with time-honored techniques from traditional contemplative meditation. Fortuitously, our founders were presented an opportunity to bring tai chi to the Parkinson’s community just as we were in the process of getting off the ground, and the overwhelming response to our pilot program inspired us to focus our resources on this worthy cause.

Our goal is to offer free or low-cost tai chi workshops to people with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers throughout the Atlanta metro area.

Browse through our website to learn more about our Tai Chi for Parkinson’s workshops and our efforts to combat Parkinson’s disease. You'll find locations, dates, times and directions.  Contact Us to find a workshop in your area.  And check out the latest news about what you can do to maximize your own health.

National Parkinson Foundation - Moving Day Atlanta

On November 9, the Georgia Tech campus hosted Atlanta's first Moving Day sponsored by the National Parkinson Foundation.  Yellow River Center was honored to participate by adding Tai Chi movement to other exercises including  Tango for Parkinson's, Zoomba and those led by PT Solutions,  The event was a huge success and raised over $140,000 for programs funded through the National Parkinson Foundation.  Next year is already in the works.
